The Aloha Turtle Lake

Situated in the floor of the valley and directly overlooked by Villa Las Lomas, A short walk from the Villa Los Pulus, The Turtle Lake is picturesque both in the daytime and at night. The lake is a wildlife haven and apart from turtles a wide range of waterfowl, other birds and insects are to be seen. The ducks and geese tend to be friendly and often approach people hoping to be fed.

The Turtle Lake is surrounded by a pine forest. A footpath surrounds the lake. There are picnic areas with benches. The lake also attracts fishermen. However the scenery is peaceful and idyllic making it difficult to believe that you are only a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of Puerto Banus.

Okay, you can’t walk easily to the beach from Villa Los Pulus. Istan Lake is the freshwater lake that is the source of water supply to Marbella. Superb nature trails and fishing on your doorstep. The walk to the Istan Lake from the Villa is about 10-15 min depending on your pace.

But look what you can walk to! From the Villa you walk northwards inland on the dirt track over a hillock or two and this is what you will behold. Walk on and you can take a scenic walk along the shore. Unless you consider yourself super fit do not try to walk around the Lake, it will take several hours

The Rio Verde river was dammed flooding the valley and creating Istan Lake which is the main reservoir for the Marbella Municipality:. When the water level is low, sometimes the rooftops and steeples of submerged villages can be seen.
